Convertible Boat Tops

Canvas fabrics have many purposes in a boat. These are useful for things like curtains, for upholstery and more importantly for convertible tops. Most boats have convertible tops which are useful for many purposes.

First of all, convertible tops are useful for protecting your boat from the sun. This means that if it gets too hot you can protect yourself from burning which is highly important. Included in the sun's rays are harmful and damaging UV rays which are essentially a type of radiation. This radiation bombards our skin cells when we are subjected to it for long periods of time and this can cause damage that appears as burns in the long run but that results in wrinkles and imperfections over time. Most seriously though, they can in some cases eventually break completely through your cell walls to reach your cells' nucleus where it can damage your DNA. This damage is then copied each time that cell divides meaning that it gradually travels through your body resulting in what we know as cancer.

Thus by using canvas fabrics over your head in the form of a convertible top, you can prevent yourself from being completely exposed to the sun's UV rays when you are in the middle of the ocean where there is otherwise no shade – boating needn't be bad bad for your health at all.
At the same time convertible boat tops are useful for many other things. They can for instance protect the rest of your items such as your marine carpet and boat upholstery fabric from the sun too which can otherwise bleach it or cause it to fade. You can use a sunbrella to achieve shade for yourself, but by using a convertible top you can cover your entire boat and keep it better protected as a result.

Of course they are also highly useful for protecting from the rain. This then means that boating need not be an activity for just when it is sunny. Again, while a sunbrella could protect you from the rain personally, a convertible top protects the whole boat and prevents your marine carpet from soaking up lots of water that would take a long time to dry out.

Your convertible boat top then will have many great uses and will help you to use your boat year round and prevent it from weathering. Make sure you maintain this then and treat it carefully. When you unfasten the canvas snaps for instance, be careful to do so one at a time rather than pulling it suddenly and risking tearing them off or tearing the fabric. Likewise for your marine zippers, be careful to align it properly first and not to force it which can again rip the fabric or cause the marine zippers to become stuck.

After taking down your canvas fabrics it is important to let them dry off or you will risk getting mould. Store them somewhere dry and with an open top until they dry off and make sure to wipe them down before and after use.
